Mum delivers her own baby after obstetrician disagrees with her birth plan

A mum was reportedly forced to deliver her own baby after her obstetrician disagreed with her birth plan.

Michelle Parsons took to Facebook to gush over her daughter for sticking to her guns when she decided that she wanted delayed cord clamping - when doctors don’t cut the umbilical cord until between one and five minutes after the baby is born - as part of her labour experience.

However, the new mum had to take things into her own hands when her obstetrician reportedly wanted to do things his own way.

“That moment the on call OB FLAT OUT REFUSES to deliver your daughter's baby since she has chosen delayed cord clamping, so your daughter FIRES the OB MID CONTRACTION, reaches down and delivers her own 8 pound 10 ounce [3.9kg] son, en caul,” Michelle wrote underneath a photo of her daughter looking at her newborn baby.

“While the STUNNED OB stands helplessly by, completely dumbfounded he was unable to bully her into doing things his way,” she continued.

“I'm One Proud Mumma here.”

She finished off the post by claiming her daughter is “savage” and “#NeverMessWithMummaBearsBirthPlan”.

It’s been claimed that cord clamping can allow more nutrients and blood to transfer to the baby.
