Appearing to be a simple children's brain-teaser, with fruit used in lieu of numbers, the deceptively hard math equation may need a closer look than you initially thought.

If you came to the conclusion that the answer is 16, then well done because this is the most common answer - it's just not the right one.

But fear not as we've figured it out for your guys (we think) and we're kind enough to share our answer.

The correct answer is actually 14 and if you're asking yourself 'how?', we'll walk you through it.

The first line is pretty simple, three apples in a row which equal 30 - meaning each apple has a value of 10.

On the second line, one apple and two bunches of bananas is equal to 18.

As we've already deducted that one apple equals 10, it suggests that each bunch of bananas has a value of 4.

The third line shows a bunch of bananas (4) minus a coconut equalling two, leading us to believe the coconut has a value of two.

However, the final line alters the coconuts and bananas so that only one half of the coconut appears and one banana is missing from the bunch.

This means we half the value of the coconut, making it one, add three bananas in the bunch, which equal three.

So one apple (10) plus one coconut (one) and three bananas (three) equal 14.

Simples!
