Remember that collection of Harry Potter books you bought way back when? Well, take a closer look because they might just be worth something. That's if you happen to own an early edition, or a signed copy.

Some early print editions are now selling for big money according Philip W Errington, author of the upcoming ‘J.K. Rowling: A Bibliography 1997 -2013′. And while Errington doesn't give too much away, marieclaire.co.uk have done their own research with the help of booksellers Abebooks.

Here are the highlights of Abebooks' findings:

  • A hard cover copy of Harry Potter And The Philosopher’s Stone showing Harry next to a train, published by Bloomsbury and credited to Joanne Rowling, instead of J.K. Rowling, will fetch a massive $55,000.

  • A soft back edition of Harry Potter And The Chamber of Secrets will reel in a handsome $9,000.

  • Early editions of Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban can fetch up to $700.

  • The Goblet Of Fire/Order Of The Phoenix/Half-Blood Prince/Deathly Hallows – unfortunately the series had become too popular by the time these were released, but a signed or special edition might go for around $200.

Time to dust off the bookshelf!
