PM's eye roll at Trump's most awkward handshake yet

Diplomatic handshakes are notoriously clumsy, but this doozy between President Trump and Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, may just take the cake!

Well, at least Mr Abe thinks so:

It all starts innocently enough with the two heads of state sitting side by side in the White House.

But when the idea of a handshake is introduced, Trump moves to stand up, sees his Japanese counterpart isn’t doing the same, so tries to cover his mistake by shuffling in his chair instead.

He reaches out to grab Abe’s hand at the awkwardest angle, then proceeds to pat him with his other hand. Smooth…

Things go from bad to worse when 10 painfully long seconds later Abe has to translate what the Japanese photographers are asking and says “please look at me”.

His hilarious expression at the end says everything.
