Revealed: Will and Kate's cute nicknames for each other

They’re the royal couple we’re used to seeing posing within an arms length of each other but it turns out Prince William and Kate Middleton are very different away from the glare of the media.

The loved-up duo, who were married in an extravagant ceremony in 2011, apparently have sweet nicknames for each other they use all the time.

Proving that they’re just like us, the lovebirds, who have two adorable kids together, have been overheard at official events calling each other by pet names used all over the world.

According to reports, when William’s phone was reportedly hacked in 2006, it was revealed that he had sent text messages to his Kate Middleton, who was his girlfriend at the time, calling her “baby” and even “babykins”.

Likewise, at the Chelsea Flower Show last year, the pair were overheard calling each other by sweet nicknames.

Apparently Wills asked Kate if she knew any of the flowers on display, to which she replied: "Babe, we've got those. We've got loads of those."

And while it was reported that William was fond of calling Kate “baby” in the past, it’s said that he’s moved on to calling his lady-love “darling”.

Yet while they’re nicknames are proof enough that they are smitten with each other, we have wondered why they don’t show PDA’s while out at official events.

According to a body language expert, the pair are following in the footsteps of Prince William’s grandmother, the Queen.

"The Queen rarely holds hands with her husband in public and this seems to have set an unwritten precedent for the other royals,” expert Robin Kermode told the Daily Mail.

"It is very clear that William and Kate are emotionally close, however, they do not seem to feel the need to prove their love - particularly when on official state business.”

According to Robin, the fact the couple don’t hold hands in public is a telling sign they're confident in the strength of their relationship, with the move often used by public figures to reassure the public rather than indicate real emotion.
