Sesame Street is Trump’s biggest troll

It seems like an innocent-enough kind of show.

A whole heap of colourful and cutesy looking Muppets dancing around, singing and teaching kids to count – how nasty could Sesame Street be?

Well quite nasty actually, if you’re President Donald Trump, that is.

The much-loved kids show has been trolling the businessman-turned-reality star-turned-President since 1988, when they introduced a greedy, property developer called ‘Ronald Grump’.

Look familiar, anyone?

While the Muppet wasn’t given a mop of floppy hair until a couple of years later, it was clear from the outset who it was parodying after Mr Grump he rocked up in Oscar the Grouch’s neighbourhood and cleared things out to build “Grump Tower”.

He also tried to charge his trash-loving neighbour a whopping 40 bags of rubbish if he ever wanted to leave the tower!

The character was back in 1994 with a very unpopular proposal to flatten all of Sesame and redevelop it Grump style, and then in 2005 he made his triumphant return for the ‘Grump Apprentice’.

Subtle right?
