Ex-Idol star fat-shamed in bridal shop

Bridesmaid-dress shopping is supposed to be fun – but when Chrislyn Hamilton arrived at a bridal shop to pick out a gown to wear at her best friend Sarah Jane's wedding, the day went quickly south.

In a video posted to her Facebook page, Chrislyn explained that she barely received a greeting when she first walked into the store.

Instead, she said, the former Australian Idol star was acknowledged by a grimace.

"I think the thing I was frustrated with the most in that situation, was when we had come to the conclusion my measurements weren't going to work with the sizing range of the particular dress we had chosen, the lady couldn't get us out fast enough," Chrislyn told Be.

"I really don't think she was interested in helping us out."

And it only got worse from there, with the sales assistant apparently telling her they would have to "change the whole dress" to make it fit.

"You know when you walk into a bridal store, and you get that 'what are you doing in here?' vibe," Chrislyn told Be. "That's how I felt."

Back in her car after the uncomfortable encounter, Chrislyn took to her video camera.

"Like what, is my body too curvy for you to handle, bridal lady?" she asked in mock outrage. "Is there a problem?"

"The moral of the story is... you want to get a bridesmaids dress, try going to a bridal store with nice people first, that are helpful, before you go and make an apppointment," Chrislyn went on to say.

"Because if they're not nice, then they're not gonna help you."
