Shaved cat mystery baffles neighbourhood

Any pet owner will tell you, their worst nightmare is someone taking off with Fluffy.

But the residents of Waynesboro, a small city in Virginia, US, are living through something even worse than mere petnappings – their cats are being abducted, and shaved.

"We looked, and he's been shaved underneath," Maia Oden, the owner of one victim said, adding that her neighbour's cat had experienced the same bizarre treatment.

She put up signs in their area asking for information, although the local police haven't been able to confirm that a crime was in fact committed.

Seven cats have been found shaved since December.
