What’s next? Introducing the 'Avolatte'

In a time where millennials are being hounded for wasting their savings on $4 coffees and extravagant avocado breakfasts, one Aussie café has come up with a savvy new idea to combine the two.

Our modern cultural obsession with avocados has come under the spotlight once again after the Truman Café, in Melbourne, posted a short video to their Instagram account, which had us all scratching our heads.

Captioned ‘combining two of Melbourne’s obsessions – lattes and avo’ the video shows a barista pouring coffee into a previously used avocado skin.

As you would expect internet users lost their minds and had a mixed response, some labelling the idea as crazy while others called it revolutionary.

“Is this actually a thing??” one user commented on Instagram.

The ingenious creation even split opinions internationally. The coffee-avocado combo was mentioned by media outlets around the world including the UK newspaper The Independent.

But as ground-breaking as the pairing may be, Truman Café barista Jaydin Nathan has in fact confirmed what we had been thinking – that it was just a joke.

“We weren’t actually selling them but then someone came in today and wanted one,” he told Newscorp.

“I think it’s ridiculous. It’s literally coffee in a piece of rubbish.”

“It’s been getting more and more attention. I don’t know, maybe we’ll start selling them,” he joked.

The jury is out!
