Mum gets note from school saying daughter's lunch is 'unacceptable'

Long gone are the days when kids would rock up to school with a Pokemon lunch box filled with a white bread sandwich and a Mars bar.

Because now, parents are being shamed for whatever they pack for their children’s lunches– even when they might think they’re giving them healthy options.

One mum took to Facebook to reveal a note she received from her daughter’s kindy teacher, telling her the lunch she packed was ‘unacceptable’.

The note was then posted online by Kidspot, with the mother saying the her daughter was handed a note to bring home after she brought sultanas to school with her.

“The sultana packed for you child today is unacceptable at kindy due to its high sugar conten,t” the note read.

“Please help us encourage nutritious habits in children.

“Our Healthy Eating Policy asks you to provide healthy and nutritious snacks for your child to eat at kindy.”

The school then went on to suggest some other snacks that they believe are more suitable to give a growing child attending school.

“Acceptable items include: Fresh, dried or tinned/packaged fruit/vegetables, dips, cheese, crackers/dry biscuits, yoghurt, fruit bread/muffins, sandwiches with healthy fillings.”

According to Kidspot, the mother captioned the photo: “This must be a joke? Of course they are high in sugar they are fruit.

“Today’s lunch consisted of a sandwich roll, two boiled eggs, an orange, kiwi fruit and a handful of sultanas. She never has packaged food in her lunchbox or anything with refined sugar.”

Back in February, Melinda Tankard Reist also posted a note her friend has received from a school, which told her to “please choose healthier options for kindy”.

“Your child has chocolate slice from the Red Food category today” the note read.

Melinda said she told her friend to “put two slices in tomorrow and tell them to get lost.”
