New mum 'fuming' after mother-in-law tries to change baby's name

A new mother has been left furious after her mother-in-law tried to change her baby’s name at the last minute.

The mum was so annoyed about it that she took to Mumsnet to ask others if her rage was justified.

“We decided on his name before he was born and I decided a middle name that meant something to me so of course my OH could also pick one if her wanted,” the mum started.

“He didn’t come up with anything.”

However that soon changed when her other half’s mother decided she would like to have an input in the baby’s name.

“In the car on the way to register the baby, his mum is on the phone to him, he’s being very quiet so I guess it’s something he doesn’t want me to know about.

“Next thing I know when we’ve got out the car I’ve got texts on my phone from her saying naming the baby is a big thing and please don’t rush into anything, also pease let my OH have an input as it’s important.”

“That she’s spoken to OH’s dad and rest of family and they all agree Christopher Harry Jack surname is a lovely name and we should consider it.”

The mum claims the name had never been brought up in any conversations before the baby was born and she still has no idea where it came from.

“Now he’s ended up with Christopher as a random bloody middle name, which would have been fine if it was my OH’s choice but I known it’s not, I know it’s hers.”

She then went on to say that she was “fuming” and asked other if she was justified.

According to Kidspot, the majority of mum’s on the forum agreed with her and totally sympathised.

“Like f**k has she spoken to the family! This is all her. Ugh. Don’t give it to him and make her back off,” one person said.

“I would just be careful that the middle name doesn’t become his nickname. To the point I would tell her you got it changed.”
