Harry's nod to Diana in Meghan's engagement ring

Prince William famously presented Kate Middleton with his mother Princess Diana’s sapphire engagement ring when he proposed back in 2010.

And now his little brother, Prince Harry, is also said to be keen to include something of his mother’s when he drops to one knee and asks Meghan Markle to marry him.

According to sources, Prince Harry is so smitten with the American actress from Suits that he’s in the midst of creating an engagement ring for Meghan made from one of his mother’s favourite bracelets, before he proposes to marry her.

The Daily Star reports that Harry has enlisted the help of longtime royal jeweller, Harry Collins, to create the one-of-a-kind piece, said to be worth up to $170,000.

It will reportedly feature the emerald diamonds from one of Diana’s bracelets.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been dating since last November, after becoming besotted with each other during the Invictus Games.

Since then, the pair have rarely spent more than a few weeks apart, with Meghan accompanying the royal to polo matches, trips around London and to West End shows.

Their biggest show of love came last month when the American actress rocked up at Pippa Middleton’s wedding on the arm of the Prince.

Catherine Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, also married Prince Harry's brother Prince William, at Buckingham Palace.

However with Meghan on the campaign trail for the latest series of Suits and Prince Harry currently in South Africa raising awareness for his charity, it’s not known when they’ll next be reunited.

The engagement news comes just days after the flame-haired royal made the shocking admission that no member of the royal family wants to be king or queen.

In a candid interview, the 32-year-old prince said that, “there was a time when… I wanted out”.

He went on to explain that it was only for a brief period, and he “then decided to stay in and work out a role for myself” – a decision that was heavily influenced by his sense of loyalty to his grandmother, the Queen.

This was all taking place during Harry’s 20s, a time in his life which he has previously described as “total chaos”.

He was still trying to shut out the grief of his mother’s death, and came very close to having a “breakdown” on a number of occasions.
