New sex robot allows its owner to simulate rape

When a few years ago we imagined a world with artificial intelligence, this isn’t exactly what we had in mind.

If you haven’t heard of sex robots before, yes, they exist – but their mere existence isn’t what’s sparked controversy lately.

What has is settings on the machines which allow their users to simulate rape.

According to the True Companion erotic website, the ‘Roxxxy TrueCompanion’ has a number of programmable settings which will give ‘her’ one of several personality options.

‘S&M Susan’ will mean “she is ready to provide your pain/pleasure fantasies”, for example.

But on the more controversial end of the scale is the ‘Young Yoko’ option, which means she is “barely 18”, or the ‘Frigid Farrah’ which when touched in a private area “more than likely, she will not be to [sic] appreciative of your advance”.

In other words, it offers a fantasy scenario in which a woman says no to your advances – but you do it anyway, making it a rape simulation.

“A study by Brett Kahr found that 85% of adults have never shared their deepest fantasies or acted them out,” the website continues.

“Roxxxy and Rocky allow everyone to realise their most private sexual dreams.”

If your “most private sexual dreams” are of rape, this robot will most certainly allow you to carry that out.

An idea which has sparked plenty of criticism.

“Rape is not an act of sexual passion. It is a violent crime,” campaigner and founder of the Everyday Sexism project wrote about the robots in The New York Times.

“We should no more be encouraging rapists to find a supposedly safe outlet for it than we should facilitate murderers by giving them realistic, blood-spurting dummies to stab.

“Since that suggestion sounds ridiculous, why does the idea of providing sexual abusers with lifelike robotic victims sound feasible to some?

“Because we live in a society that still fails to see sexual violence for the crime it is.”
