“She had this incredible ability, which he kind of inherited - and I’ve told him that and he said thanks very much - to make people feel at ease and make them feel that everything’s going to be alright,” Elton said.

“I haven’t experienced many people in my life who’ve had that ability.

"She could walk into a room of people and make them feel as if everything was great.”

The British singer - who is reported to have became firm friends with Diana after meeting at Prince Andrew’s 21st – said it was “incredible” to have someone from the royal family care about the people suffering from the disease.

“It was considered to be a gay disease and for someone who was within the royal family and who was a woman and who was straight and to have someone care from the other side was an incredible gift,” he said.

Prince Harry also spoke about the picture, saying he could see from the photo the light Diana brought to people’s lives.

“When you look back to these days, when actually the reality was doom and gloom yet everybody in that photograph is smiling because of her,” he said.

Elton said there was a “positive, wonderful glow” on the Princess’s face in every photo.

The pop legend and Diana famously fell out just a year before she died after she pulled out of a charity event he was hosting.

Speaking on CNN's "Larry King Live" in 2002, Elton explained what brought them back together.

“I wasn't too happy, and I let her know that. And then she wrote me a very terse letter," he said.

"It's one of those things that friends sometimes do. You know, they're too proud to pick up the phone.

“And it was just due to a tragic event like Gianni's murder that brought us back together again.”

Elton was referring to Gianni Verscae, who was fatally shot outside his Miami Beach home in 1997.
