Entire plane pays tribute to 101-year-old war vet

It’s not every day you turn 101, so it was only fitting that Clem McGregor had a plane-ful of strangers ready to help celebrate.

Rallying the passengers of his Southwest Airlines flight, the crew got on the loud speaker to make sure Clem’s birthday didn’t go unnoticed.

“If I could direct your attention up here to the front of the aircraft,” a flight attendant is filmed saying in the video above.

“Since we have the candles lit,” she says referring to the reading lights that were turned on above every seat, “we’d like for everyone to sing him a happy birthday”.

At the end of the song, Clem is asked to make a wish and blow out his candles, as everyone on board reaches up to turn off their lights.

It’s an incredibly heart-warming moment, and the passengers later give him a rousing round of applause for his service as a veteran of the Second World War.
