Why Diana wore her engagement ring after separating from Charles
They separated in 1992 after 11 years of marriage but Princess Diana kept wearing both her engagement ring and her wedding band for a further four years.
It wasn’t until their divorce came through in 1996 that the much-loved Princess finally decided to remove her rings and move on from the relationship.

But now it’s been revealed that there was actually a very touching reason behind Diana’s bizarre choice to keep the rings firmly on her finger.
According to the Daily Mail, Diana decided to wear the rings “out of respect for her son”.
Prince William was 14 at the time of his parents’ divorce and Prince Harry was just 11.
However once the divorce came through, the Princess took off the rings and began to speak out about her marriage to Prince Charles.
According to numerous reports, Channel 4 played the previously unheard tapes in a documentary about Diana’s life, to honour her anniversary in August.
The Independent claims the feature-length documentary - Diana: In Her Own Words – showed Princess Diana spilling all the details about her and Charles’ intimate relationship.
The tapes were reportedly recorded while Diana was preparing for her now infamous Panorama interview with Martin Bashir in 2005, where she candidly opened up about Charles’ affair with Camilla.
During the interview, Diana said she knew about the affair and was told about it by people “who minded and cared about our marriage”.
“Oh, a woman’s instinct is a very good one,” she said at the time.
When she was asked if Camilla was a factor in the breakdown of her marriage, Diana famously answered: “Well, there were three of us in this marriage, so it was a bit crowded.”
