Mindblowing castle optical illusion

If you thought you’d seen every optical illusion possible then think again because this one is sweeping the internet – and it’s blowing our mind.

The video, which was uploaded to YouTube by a person called notonefoot, shows a black and white image of a castle.

It asks you to look at the black dot in the middle of the castle before the screen turns into full colour and then back to black and white again.

Amazingly, you should then be able to see a colour picture of the castle.

It comes after a similar optical illusion went viral in June, showing a beach in black and white before people were able to see it in full colour.

The trick is all in the way your eye's chromatic receptors register colour.

After looking at the orange and purple image for long enough, your eyes' colour receptors for these shades get tired, so the blue and green receptors step in to compensate.

This means you start to see blue and green where there is no colour at all.

Freaky!
