Fat shamed bride-to-be hits back with epic post

It was the shocking body shaming experience that saw newly engaged Cassie Young preyed on by a personal trainer who told her she needed to lose weight for her wedding.

Now the bride-to-be has proved she is most definitely not taking any of those hurtful comments to heart, sharing a photo of her looking happy and more confident than ever at her engagement party.

“Cheers to having real, solid friends celebrate one of those most real moments of my life!” she captioned the snap of her beaming and surrounded by pals.

Cassie, who is engaged to her boyfriend of nine years, hit the headlines last week after she called out a personal trainer who had gotten in touch with her on social media about her impending nuptials.

“Congratulations on your engagement,” wrote the man. “Hire me to help you get in shape for your wedding.”

“I am in shape! Thank you so much for the offer, though,” Cassie replied.

Things then escalated when the personal trainer refused to take no for an answer, and contined to shame the 31-year-old by saying she would regret it if she didn't work out before her big day.

“I know you want to look your best on your wedding day,” the man pressed. “If you don’t hire me, hire someone. Those pictures last centuries. Your children’s children’s children will still have those pictures.”

For Cassie, who has been a yo-yo dieter for years and only recently decided to embrace her body, it’s something that made her see red.

“I would sit in my closet and cry because I wore sweatpants to work every day for two weeks because no other pair fit,” she told Yahoo Beauty.

“But last year I decided to invest in clothes that fit and have modelling photos taken — I’m tired of telling myself I’m not pretty because I have fat rolls.”

“This guy tried to undo the work I’ve done and plant a seed of doubt in my head during my engagement.”

Thousands reacted to Cassie’s post, with many congratulating on her calling the trainer out.

“As a person that teaches fitness, trains people and competes, this is DEEPLY upsetting. Almost unbelievable!!!” wrote one commenter on Instagram. “I spend hours a day created strong clients both emotionally and physically. Guys like this is what I work tirelessly to fight.”

“Thank you for this, Cassie, thank you. I had a similar situation happen with trainer at the gym,” wrote another. “You will look as beautiful on your wedding day as you do every day!”
