Turia Pitt's inspiring post six years after marathon bushfire that nearly killed her
Turia Pitt has taken to Instagram to share a poignant message on the six-year anniversary of the WA bushfire marathon that nearly killed her.
The pregnant 29-year-old, who spent 900 days in hospital after suffering burns to 65 per cent of her body in 2011, said the last six years have been “bloody tough”, but she’s “never been happier”.

“I’ve never felt compelled to acknowledge the anniversary, but it’s been six years today since I was trapped in a grassfire competing in an ultra marathon,” she wrote.
“It’s been bloody tough and there's been massive lows, but I’ve managed to rebuild my life and I can honestly say, I’ve never been happier.
“So, this post is for anyone going through a rough patch or a s*** time - hang in there, surround yourself with good people and never lose hope for your future.”
That same day, Turia also posted a glowing snap of her growing baby bump, dressed in a black and pink motif dress.
It comes after Turia and her fiancé Michael Hoskin have revealed in July they are having a baby boy.
She revealed the couple were expecting their first child earlier in July, admitting she took five tests before she finally told Michael.
“When that first test came through I was just like "f***". Then I thought I needed to stay calm,” she told 60 Minutes.
With an overjoyed Turia due in December, the athlete admits having a family was something she and Michael had talked candidly about following her accident.
"It wasn't a deal breaker for us,' she told Australian Women’s Weekly.
“We talked a lot about it. Some couples split up if they cannot have kids, but we would have found something else.
“We might have adopted or pushed our energy in another direction.”
