Does this prove Meghan and Harry are secretly engaged?

After almost a year and a half of dating, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have finally made their first public appearance as a couple.

But among all the fanfare and excitement, did we all miss a massive hint that suggests the pair have taken their relationship to the next level?

Rumours have been swirling for months that the prince is ready to get down on one knee, and there have been plenty of signs suggesting that Suits star Meghan is a princess in training, and this might be the biggest one yet.

Unlike on Monday, when the couple were pictured cuddling up to each other in the stands, Harry and Meghan sat separately for the opening of the 2017 Invictus Games at the weekend.

However, while Harry was seated alongside Melania Trump and Canadian PM Justin Trudeau, he could rest assured that his love – who was sitting in a separate area for dignitaries – was well looked after.

As Daily Mail royal correspondent Rebecca English observed, the 36-year-old actress was actually being watched by one of Prince Harry’s Scotland Yard bodyguards.

“Intriguingly one of Harry's Scotland Yard (taxpayer-funded) personal protection officers standing in a stairwell next to #MeghanMarkle,” Rebecca wrote on Twitter.

And they weren’t just observing either, with Rebecca explaining that the protection officer later ushered Meghan out and away from the crowds before the general public stood to leave.

As Harry’s protection officers are publicly funded, Meghan is not entitled to their services – that is, until she joins the royal family.

Another glaring clue is that when the couple were pictured sitting together at the wheelchair tennis on Monday, Meghan was wearing a white Misha Nonoo "husband" shirt. Subtle...

It has been previously noted that something has changed about Meghan’s demeanour since her relationship with Harry started getting serious.

A source told Who magazine earlier this year that when the pair started dating, Meghan was photographed smiling and “being pleasant”, but that people “interpreted that as her loving the attention”.

They added that with the help of royal aides, Meghan has now become more poised and keeps a very neutral expression in front of the camera.

Meghan has already shut down her lifestyle blog The Tig, and it’s been reported that she’s receiving etiquette lessons and is being schooled on the type of clothes she should wear.

After she and Harry recently enjoyed a lengthy holiday in Africa together, we’re hoping for a royal announcement soon!
