Mum catches great-granny's ghost on a balloon

A mum-of-one claims she photographed the spooky figure of her dead great grandmother wearing a ball gown – hovering behind her in a reflection on a balloon.

Alice Budd was playing in her garden in West Sussex with her family when she decided to take a picture of her daughter holding a balloon last month.

However when she checked the image the 24-year-old noticed a lanky figure was in the balloon’s reflection standing behind her - a very tall woman wearing a ball gown.

“I was shocked. I didn’t see it until I zoomed in. But it wasn’t something that scared me,” Alice says.

“She is very tall. I thought she had some sort of ball gown on. It doesn’t look to me like she has any feet.”

The nurse believes this figure could be her late great grandmother, who Alice was named after, visiting from beyond the grave.

“My grandfather’s mum was very tall. If it was going to be anyone it would be someone like that. It was pretty bizarre. I find it quite calming. I’m not one to be worried. It’s nothing horrible,” she says.

“She passed away 25 years ago, just before I was born and I was named after her. It is an interesting connection.”

And it might not be the first time that the relative has visited Alice – as she claims when she was just two years old she would tell her parents that someone tall was in the garden that came to ‘play’ every day for 18 months.

“It happened at the same time every day. I didn’t remember until someone told me. I said she was very tall which is interesting,” she says.

In her work as a nurse, Alice has unfortunately witnessed many deaths so she believes it is also possible that the figure could be a previous patient.

“Most people who have seen the picture have said it has given them goosebumps. It is pretty strange,” she says.

“My parents were visiting at the time they were on the opposite side of the garden and they couldn’t see anything. It only showed up on the picture.

“The pictures were taken within seconds of each other. There was nobody there.”
