Can you see what’s wrong with this Coles special?

Those brightly coloured supermarket specials can be hard for the thrifty shopper to ignore, but one Coles customer noticed something a little odd about this one.

An image of the specials sign was posted to image sharing site Imgur with the caption, “Coles, I don't think that means what you think it means”. So can you see what’s wrong?

While the ticket is splashed with a large ‘half price’ stamp, it lists the original price as $12, while the discounted price is $9, not $6.

As much as we liked to whinge and complain about it as kids, there is a reason they teach us basic maths at school - even if it’s only to keep an eye out for things like this!
