Woman turns labia into sparkly necklace

When most people have something surgically removed, they're not that interested in seeing the bits left over.

For Tracy Kiss, though, it was a different story – not only did she take the remnants of her operation home, she turned them into a necklace for everyone to admire.

The former glamour model and mum of two wanted a keepsake from her labiaplasty surgery, which she'd had performed after suffering pain and irritation all her life from protruding labia minora – the inner vaginal lips.

For a long time, Tracy said on her blog, she didn't realise anything was wrong because "nobody talks about it".

"As a result I’d missed out on so many hobbies and interests that I love and had to be mindful with tight clothing, exercise and intercourse because of the discomfort it caused simply because I didn’t know anything could be done about it – I thought all women were just as tender as I," she wrote.

But although Tracy took her labia home from hospital in a jar of embalming fluid, they began to turn grey and "crinkled" over time.

So she decided to sparkle them up and make a necklace out of them.

Painting the preserved labia, then coating them in glitter, Tracy suspended them in a disc of clear resin before hanging them around her neck as a sort of trophy.

"I know that keeping body parts may not be to everybody’s taste," Tracy explained.

"However my collection began when having children and finding my feet as a tooth fairy which led to me also keeping my silicone breast implants after an emergency breast reconstruction five years ago."

And Tracy is thrilled with the results.

"My labia have been successfully preserved, are colourful, bright and cheerful and mark the end of my suffering," she wrote.

"One step closer to breaking down the taboo of female circumcision through a unique talking point and bespoke jewellery that I will cherish forever."
