Mum's horrific reaction to Halloween make-up
Novelty Halloween make-up was all the rage this year, with plenty of trick or treaters choosing to ditch traditional costumes and use their face as a canvas instead.
But it all went horribly wrong for this mother-of-two who suffered a severe allergic reaction to the glue in her beauty products.
Emma Forsythe used elaborate make-up to transform herself into dead prom queen for a Halloween party. The final look included a zipper running down the middle to her face which exposed what looked like bloody, raw flesh, around her mouth and nose.
It was very convincing on the night, but the following morning 33-year-old Emma woke up barely able to open her eyes after they became puffy and swollen.
“When I saw my face it was terrifying,” Emma told HotSpot Media, “I couldn't believe that make-up glue had done that to me.”
After her tongue began stinging and her face broke out in a rash, Emma went to the hospital where she was told she’d suffered an allergic reaction ‘most likely from the Halloween make-up’.
“[The doctor] said I could have gone into anaphylactic shock if I had used more of the glue on my face,” she said.
Shocked at how severe the reaction was, Emma was prescribed a dose of steroids and is now warning others about the popular novelty make-up trend.

She had purchased the Halloween make-up kit from a party supply store, and as she has sensitive skin, Emma was advised to do a patch test before using it.
Unfortunately the glue on her skin for a few hours that day and had no reaction so thought she would be fine.
