Why the Queen and Prince Philip rarely kiss in public
We’ve seen Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have a kiss in public and Prince William and Kate Middleton famously snogged on the royal balcony on their wedding day.
However, there’s a reason why the Queen and her husband, Prince Philip, are rarely seen having a smooch in public.
The 91-year-old and her 96-year-old husband may have shared a few tender moments over the years, but there’s a reason why they are hard to come by.
According to royal insider, Richard Fitzwilliams, it’s all because the Queen mother was infuritated by it.
“It is very rare for members of the royal family to show affection publicly on official engagements, it doesn't look appropriate or professional,” Mr Fitzwilliams told The Express.
“The Queen and Prince Philip almost never embrace in public.”
Prince Philip famously gave his wife a peck on the day she was made Queen and according to Mr Fitzwilliams, the Queen Mother was furious.
And while the younger royals are certainly more affectionate with each other than the Queen and Prince Philip, they are still restrained on royal engagements.
However, Prince Harry has recently bucked the trend as he’s been seen out-and-about with his lady love, Meghan Markle, holding hands and sharing a kiss at the Invictus Games.
Kate Middleton and Prince William on the other hand tend to keep their affectionate moments private, however, we have gotten a few glimpses of their love when they embrace after a boat race or hold hands on a photoshoot.
