Princess Diana’s former surgeon lover engaged

Diana’s former lover, surgeon Hasnat Khan, has found love again 20 years after the princess' tragic death.

Diana’s love affair with Pakistani heart surgeon Hasnat Khan was largely secret. After meeting at the Royal Brompton Hospital, the pair shared an intimate two-year relationship that ended in early 1997.

And while her death in August of that year seems to be forever linked with Dodi Al Fayed, her final partner, it is believed that Hasnat was the one that had truly stolen the princess’ heart.

Reports now suggest that Hasnat has become engaged to a muslim woman much younger than the 57-year-old, named Somi Sohail. She recently joined him at a Chain of Hope charity ball in London.

Sources close to him say he is ‘very happy’ and ‘they plan to get married and have children’, according to the Daily Mail.

Diana and Hasnat weren’t well known as a couple, and things didn’t work out in the end, the pair separating due to ‘cultural differences’.

Vanity Fair reports they spent much of their time together in Kensington Palace, where they could avoid the paparazzi.

Diana had been officially separated from Charles since 1992 and by the time she met Hasnat she was living alone in the palace.

Ten years after Diana’s death, Hasnat did marry a descendant from Afghan royalty - Hadia Sher Ali – but their arranged marriage ended 18 months later.
