Pregnant Kate and William arrive late after gunshot reports

After a very rough start to her third pregnancy, Kate Middleton was absolutely glowing as she and her growing bump arrived at the Royal Variety Performance show in London on Friday.

Dressed in a glittering Jenny Packham gown with sheer sleeves and a sequin-embellished pattern, the 35-year-old Duchess of Cambridge dazzled amongst the high-profile guests.

She arrived alongside her husband Prince William, for the show which features a host of performers including former One Direction star Louis Tomlinson, Seal, The Killers and The Script, who all took to the stage this year.

However, an incident at nearby Oxford Street – one of London’s busiest shopping districts - caused the royal couple to run late, meaning they had to skip their scheduled meet-and-great with some of the performers.

Armed police had descended on Oxford Street after reports of gunfire. Shoppers who were making the most of the Black Friday sales were told to stay inside and the tube station was evacuated.

While they responded as though it was a terror incident, a police spokesperson said, “To date police have not located any trace of any suspects, evidence of shots fired or casualties.”

Kate and Wills’ glamorous night out has taken some of the spotlight off newer royal couple Prince Harry and Meghan Markle amid intense speculation an engagement announcement is coming any day now.

Royal watchers went sent into a frenzy on Friday when British bookmaker Ladbrokes, became so convinced that the pair will wed in 2018, that they suddenly stopped taking bets on it.

The decision came after news that Meghan has quietly moved into Kensington Palace with Harry, and after the bookie apparently noticed the BBC making broadcast preparations for the official announcement.
