This is who will walk Meghan down the aisle
With only five months to go until the wedding of the year, full royal planning mode has sprung into action.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, who announced their engagement last week, are reported to be tying the knot on May 26th next year at Windsor Castle.
However, it was up in the air who would walk the future Duchess down the aisle, especially with Meghan revealing in the couple’s official engagement interview with the BBC that her father still hasn’t met her future husband.
Now, the 36-year-old’s brother, Michael, has revealed to The Sun that their father, Thomas Markle, will walk his daughter down the aisle – despite having not been seen since the couple made their engagement public.
“He and Meghan have a good relationship, and they talk weekly so she keeps him up to date,” Michael said.
Just last week Meghan and Harry gushed over the actress’ mother, Doria, in their BBC interview.
They also spoke of their whirlwind romance and what they think of how quickly their relationship has blossomed.
“[We were] very quickly swept up in a media storm,” Meghan said.
“I think also once my friends were able to meet Harry … and my mom, who we spend a lot of time with – who is so much fun – it was just obvious,” she added, before Prince Harry said: “Her mum’s amazing!”
“It was just obvious that no matter what we were being put through that it was just temporary and that we were going to be able to get through that,” the Suits star continued.
“So everybody was really happy. And he’s talked to my dad a few times, hasn’t been able to meet him just yet, but it’s all been — it’s all been worth every effort.”
The news comes after reports in October that 73-year-old Thomas Markle is hiding out in Mexico after filing for bankruptcy.
“She wants him there to walk her down the aisle to her prince,” a family friend told New Idea.
“But he hates the spotlight and wants to keep his financial problems out of the press.”
The source also revealed that Thomas Markle thinks the royal family would “look down on him at the wedding” and would prefer to “spare his daughter the stress”.
