Camilla eyes up alliance with Meghan following royal feud rumours

There may have been rumours that Camilla didn’t think Meghan Markle was good enough for Prince Harry but now it appears things have changed.

According to a report in the Daily Star, Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, wants to make friends with the former Suits actress, as she thinks it could be good for her image.

The 70-year-old, who has always had to work hard to be in the public’s favour, believes Meghan, who is American and a Hollywood star, could be a good person to have on her side.

Indeed, when Camilla was asked recently what she thought of the engagement news, she said “it’s brilliant”.

"America's loss is our gain. We are absolutely delighted.

“As you can see, they're so happy. Sometimes in a climate where we're surrounded by a lot of bad news, it's a real joy to have a bit of good news for once."

According to a source, Camilla knows a lot of royal watchers are skeptical of Meghan, because she comes from a media background.

“According to her critics, Meghan has no business dating someone like Prince Harry or marrying into the royal family for that matter,” the source told the Daily Star.

“Camilla sees this and that’s why she wants to show Meghan that she can be a trusted friend.”

Just a few months ago, it was claimed that Camilla warned Meghan off marrying Harry when they met in Toronto.

According to New Idea, Camilla asked Meghan to meet her while her and Prince Charles were on a tour of Canada, to celebrate the 150th year celebrations there.

However, when she agreed, it’s said she had no idea what was in store for her and was caught “completely off guard” by Camilla’s “hostility”.

“She told Meghan that she didn’t like her relationship with Harry and that she should think twice before agreeing to his marriage proposal because Camilla was planning to make her life very tough,” a palace insider told the publication.

“She’s long thought Meghan isn’t good enough for Harry and told her that she’s not welcome in the royal family.”
