Meghan Markle breaks major royal Christmas rule

She's already shaken up royal protocol with her public displays of affection with fiancé Prince Harry during their official outings together.

And it looks like Meghan Markle is breaking royal rules again, after her Christmas plans with the royals have been confirmed.

Kensington Palace have revealed Meghan Markle will spend her first Christmas with her in-laws-to-be at Sandringham.

While this mightn't seem like anything out of the ordinary to spend time with your future husband's family, being part of the Christmas festivities at Sandringham with senior royal members is a privilege usually given to those who have married into the family.

It's also reported that Meghan will join the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their children George, four, and two-year-old Charlotte, on Christmas Day – so stay tuned for photos of the family en route to church.

“You can expect to see the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry and Ms Markle on Christmas Day,” said a palace spokesperson.

Attending Christmas while she was engaged was something even Kate MIddleton wasn't allowed to do, with royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams believing the Queen has made an exception for Meghan.

“It is expected Meghan will join Harry and the rest of the family for Christmas on the Queen’s estate in Sandringham in Norfolk this year,” he told the Express.

“Now they are engaged and she will shortly be a senior member of the Royal Family, it is pivotal that she feels an integral part of it as soon as possible.”

“Kate and the younger members will help her through the strict protocol of the royal festive celebrations which take place over three days and which can be daunting.”
