Petition emerges to stop Meghan Markle from getting a royal title

She may have already moved into Kensington Palace and spent Christmas Day with the Queen but a shocking petition has emerged to try and stop Meghan Markle from becoming a Duchess.

The 36-year-old is due to marry Prince Harry on May 19 in a lavish ceremony at Windsor Castle and while it hasn’t yet been confirmed, it’s expected she’ll become the Duchess of Sussex.

However, now a petition has sprung up on Change.org, asking people to sign if they believe Meghan shouldn’t get a royal title or have a role in the royal family.

The petition, which already has 2,435 signatures, claims the former Suits actress isn’t fit to be in the royal family because she “has shown her disrespect for the Monarch and royal family by pulling faces and sticking her tongue out to the visitors during her first public appearance with the Queen”.

The starters are no doubt referring to Meghan’s appearance at Sandringham on Christmas Day.

As she inked arms with her future husband, Meghan was caught on camera sticking her tongue out at well-wishers.

It’s not clear why she made the gesture, but it’s thought she was joking with some of the kids in the crowd.

The petition goes on to say that she “shows her lack of respect towards Harry” for how she acted.

They then go on to say that should Harry want to continue his relationship with Meghan Markle, he should be allowed to relinquish his royal titles and move away.

“He has stated before that he didn’t want to be royal so maybe now this is his chance,” the petition states.

In just hours the petition already had thousands of signatures, with the organisers urging people to send a letter to the Queen to let their feelings be known.

However, Meghan and Harry showed that their love will withstand any haters online by appearing together hand-in-hand on Christmas Day.

The duo looked blissfully in love as Meghan was snapped making her first curtsy in front of the Queen.
