Someone in Australia is 'Set for Life' but doesn't know it

If you bought a ‘Set for Life’ Lotto ticket over Christmas, then check it right now because you could be $4.8 million richer – you just don’t know it yet.

The lucky ticket-holder from Queensland will receive $20,000 a month for 20 years after their entry won the 1st Prize in Set for Life draw 884 on the weekend, Saturday 6 January.

However Golden Casket’s efforts to contact the winner have so far been unsuccessful.

According to the ‘Set for Life’ website, there is only a 1 in 38 million chance of actually winning the first prize and the company is urging anyone who has a ticket to fish it out because if they do, they might just find their whole lives are about to change.

“Golden Casket is urging anyone with an entry in last Saturday’s Set for Life draw to check their entries as soon as possible – and if your phone is ringing answer it,” the corporation said in a statement.

The winning ticket was purchased at Nextra Toombul News & Megabooks in Toombul Shopping Centre - a suburb just outside Brisbane.

It’s the third major prize won during the past seven months from a ticket purchased at that exact shop.

In June 2017, one of its customers won $6 million in the Powerball draw, while another person won more than $1.4 million less than a fortnight ago in Saturday's Gold Lotto’s $30 Million Megadraw.

The winning ticket was drawn on Saturday, January 6, however, the organisers are still waiting for someone to come forward.

“Our winner could be completely unaware that Golden Casket is trying to contact them with the dream come true news,” Golden Casket spokesperson Matt Hart said in a statement.

“You may not think it’s possible that you could be the registered 1st Prize winner we’re unable to contact, but if you purchased a registered entry in Saturday’s Set for Life draw that you haven’t checked yet, you’re in with a chance.

“We’re urging all players to check their entries as soon as possible and if you discover you are holding the registered 1st Prize winning ticket to contact Golden Casket on 131 868 to begin the process of claiming your prize.”

The winning numbers in the Set for Life draw were 28, 33, 23, 9, 2, 26, 16 and 31, with the bonus numbers 25 and 17.
