Camilla slammed over 'appalling' treatment of Meghan Markle
Camilla may have said America’s loss was Great Britain’s gain when Prince Harry got down on one knee and popped the question.
However, 36-year-old Meghan Markle’s family have now reportedly hit back at the Duchess of Cornwall over her “appalling” treatment of the future royal.
In particular, Meghan’s mother Doria is said to be furious with Camilla for not welcoming her daughter into the fold after moving across the world to be with Prince Harry.
“Doria is outraged and has told Meghan that she’s not going to let anyone push her or their family around – especially Camilla,” a family insider told New Idea.
And while Doria is standing up for her former Suits actress daughter, Meghan’s half-sister and her father have been forced to defend themselves after they are said to have signed a deal to document their trip to the royal wedding.
It’s believed Samantha Markle and Thomas Markle will take a cruise from the US to London for a TV show, which will follow the lead-up to the big day.
The royal family, including Camilla and Prince Charles are said to be livid with Meghan’s clan.
“To say that Prince Charles is appalled by Meghan’s family using the wedding and the royal family as a way to make money off a tacky TV special is an understatement,” a source told New Idea.
In January, last year it was reported that Camilla didn't think Meghan was fit to be a part of the British royal family.
According to a report in Woman’s Day, Camilla was doing whatever it took to make sure Suits actress Meghan and her 33-year-old stepson never married.
"She doesn’t do tantrums, but she has considerable influence,” a palace insider told the magazine.
“If she doesn’t get her way, she leans on Charles and Charles acts.”
Camilla hasn’t been afraid to let her feelings be known about her stepson’s romances in the past and she was reportedly behind the reason why Prince William and Kate Middleton split way back in 2007.
At the time, it was thought it was due to William’s unwillingness to commit to a relationship, however it’s been claimed that Charles’ second wife, Camilla, may have orchestrated the whole thing.
According to author Christopher Anderson, who wrote the book William and Kate: A Royal Love Story, Camilla was furious that Kate was “sucking up all the attention” at a time when she was trying to win over the public.
Anderson claims Camilla thought Kate wasn’t worthy enough to be welcomed into the royal family.
In his book, Game of Crowns, he wrote: “Kate is the first working-class woman to be accepted into the Royal Family.
“She is descended from coal miners and her mother was a flight attendant.
“So, for all those reasons Camilla never really felt that Kate Middleton as an individual and the Middleton family as a whole were going to be worthy of entering into the Royal Family.
“I was told at the time of the breakup, and later on as well, that Camilla basically whispered in Charles’s ear that it was really time to make—to force—William to make a decision one way or the other.“
However, Camilla's plan obviously didn't work and Kate Middleton and Prince William reunited within months.
