Inside newlywed Frances Abbott's whirlwind romance
They got engaged after a whirlwind two-week romance and just three months later, Frances Abbott and Sam Loch are married.
The 26-year-old daughter of former Prime Minister Tony Abbott, took to her Instagram account to make the exciting announcement.
“Happy Valentine’s Day @samloch Always and forever,” Frances captioned a snap of the pair kissing.
Her husband, 34-year-old two-time Olympic rower Sam, also posted a gushing photo online, showing him and his new wife brandishing their wedding rings.
“The celebratory component isn’t for a couple of months, but we made it official in the eyes of the law today. We’re the mother*****g Mighty Morphin Power Rangers of love,” he said.
Frances and Sam met late last year through a mutual friend and with both of them being keen fitness buffs, they hit it off immediately.
Just two weeks later they took to Instagram to announce that they had decided to take their relationship to the next level.
Frances spilled all the details about her engagement, saying she was putting a packet of peas into the freezer when she turned around and saw Sam standing there with a bottle of bubbly in his hand.
“He said, ‘Why aren’t you asking me why I’m holding champagne?’" Frances told NewsCorp.
"So I said, ‘OK... why are you holding champagne?’ He said, ‘Well, I thought we could drink it after I asked you to marry me.’”
She admitted that the whole thing was a surprise and ‘is really fast’ but it felt ‘natural’ to her.
“Life is short, and love is special, and sometimes you just need to follow your instincts,” she said.
Indeed, the pair appear to be perfectly matched, with Frances recently taking part in a bodybuilding contest and Sam has competed at the 2008 Beijing and 2012 London Olympics.
Sam is eight-years-older than Frances and attended Sydney’s exclusive The Kings School, before studying overseas at Princeton University in the US.
He is now based in Melbourne, where he runs his own online workout website called The Watt Farm.
Meanwhile, Frances took part in both the 'first timer' and 'sports model' categories at the Australian ICN Victorian State Titles competition in September.
Just weeks before they met, Frances told Harper’s Bazaar that she was ‘so single’.
“Like, very, very single,” Frances said.
“But I also think it’s probably the best time to compete, because I don’t have a guy saying, ‘Let’s go get some dinner!’”.
However all that was to change as she met Sam just weeks after she gave the interview.
