Women can now use an ‘order a daddy’ app to pick a sperm donor

A new app has been launched which allows women to choose their sperm donor from a list of men online.

London Sperm Bank Donors, the app which has been dubbed the 'order a daddy' lets women pick from a range of characteristics, such as race, nationality, eye colour, hair colour and height until they find the perfect sperm donor for them.

The app also allows women to create a 'wish list' of potential fathers and it will alert them when a man who suits their criteria is available.

Not only can they tailor physical characteristics of their future baby daddy, but they can also check out the mens' medical information and a written description of their personality.

Women who sign up to the app, which is being marketed as a "family on the go" app, are asked to pay a one-off fee of $1,600 (£950) and when they pick their donor, his sample is then delivered to the clinic they are being treated in.

The professions of the men on the app range from engineering to marketing and hospitality to the performing arts.

Josephine Quintavalle, of the campaign group Comment on Reproductive Ethics, told The Times: “How much further can we go in the trivialisation of parenthood?

“This is reproduction via the mobile phone. It’s digital dads. Choose Daddy. This is the ultimate denigration of fatherhood.”
