Tinder's latest update will be transgender-inclusive
It’s the dating app said to be responsible for an insane 12 million matches worldwide every day, and now Tinder’s latest update will mean transgender users won’t have to miss out on swiping to find love.

Tinder CEO Sean Rad reveals the company was made aware of harassment faced by transgender swipers months ago, which saw users reporting abuse, as well as being reported by others “on the merits of who they were and not necessarily what they were saying or doing”.
The company then decided to completely rewrite their algorithm and work with transgender community leaders to put a stop to the discrimination.
“Our goal is to provide a product that gives our transgender and gender non-conforming users a better experience on Tinder,” explains Sean.
“We’re really excited about the update and believe it is the right step to take as a company to create more meaningful connections between all of our users. Everyone is welcome on Tinder.”
Up until now, users were only offered the option of signing up as a man or a woman.
According to the New York Times, Tinder now offers a choice of almost 40 options “including Transgender Woman, Transgender Man, Transmasculine, Two-Spirit, Neutrois, Non-Binary and Other”.
If users don’t identify with any of those, they can write their own.
Nice work, Tinder!
