Couple send the most frightening wedding invite

An engaged couple have shunned traditional wedding invites in favour of something that would give even the most law-abiding of citizens a shock.

Instead of a beautifully embossed white envelope, Matt and Nancy's wedding guests opened their mailboxes to find a letter marked "urgent" and branded with their local Sherif's Department's emblem.

The bride-to-be's niece posted a photo of the shocking invite to Instagram and explained they had disguised it as a notice of appearance.

“Y’all. My aunt’s marrying a sheriff and this is their invitation,” she said. “Damn near gave everyone in my family a heart attack. LMAO she’s evil.”

It's not surprising the letter sent her family into a panic, you can easily see your mind jumping to all sorts of conclusions when you see that in between your bills! Do I have an unpaid parking fine? Have I run a red light? Did I miss a jury duty summons?

Plus it's a worrying time for immigrants in America, so you'd hope it wasn't sent to anyone with a questionable status or they would have gotten a good fright.

Inside, the invitation is much more lighthearted, despite looking suspiciously like a parking ticket.

It got a good reception on Instagram at least, with a few people saying they love the idea.

“HAHAHAHHA I’m dead. I would’ve been like, wtf did I do???” one person commented.

“I want to know where she got the wedding invitation!! I want to copy hers!” another said.
