Damning VF article exposes Melania’s marriage secrets

It’s the in-depth investigative piece that’s threatened to blow all the secrets of Melania and Donald Trump’s controversial marriage out of the water.

Following reports of Vanity Fair journalist Evgenia Peretz approaching the couple's closest friends and oldest confidants for comment, the POTUS and his wife have been high alert.

And the article - titled 'Inside the Trump Marriage: Melania’s Burden' – doesn't disappoint either, revealing how the cracks are starting to show in the normally obedient First Lady.

“Woefully pliant as Melania may be, even she may have a breaking point,” explains the article.

“Over the course of reporting this story, for which her close friends declined to talk, an uneasy picture has emerged of their marital union. Melania’s unhappiness and the couple’s apparent lack of closeness are becoming more noticeable.”

With a reputation as a wife who “speaks only when spoken to” according to Lisa Bytner, a Trump Model Management PR, Melania’s main focus stays firmly with her son Barron – the son who Trump reportedly only allowed on the condition his model wife got her body back after the birth.

“She promised him that everything would go back to the way it was,” a source tells Vanity Fair, who claims it was a ‘contract’ of sorts.

“There was no ‘How do you feel?’ No opening of doors, making sure she didn’t fall. Just ‘You wanted to have a baby.’”

Melania’s motherhood focus has seen her continue to reside at New York’s Trump Towers while her husband has moved to the White House, with claims she wants to see out Barron’s current school year.

However the article reveals the President and his wife have not yet applied for Barron to attend a Washington DC area school, leaving some to wonder what their long-term plan might be.

It’s her seeming lack of interest in the role of First Lady that has also seen a growing disconnect between herself and Trump’s daughter, Ivanka.

Melania’s absence has seen Ivanka step into a more public role, but it’s taken its toll on the women’s relationship.

According to the article, sources have “observed a frostiness between the two”.

However with the First Lady’s offices in the East Wing of the White House practically a ‘ghost town’ as Melania opts to take a distant approach to her new role, it’s understandably Ivanka has elected to step in to be by her father’s side as they meet world leaders and CEOs.

“A First Lady comes in with seasoned partnerships,” a source told the publication. “You come in with a staff, your people. They have no people.”

While Melania and Trump are yet to publicly speak out on the claims, it’s clear all eyes are on the couple as their unconventional marriage continues to play out in the spotlight.

“A nation now wonders what role, if any, the new First Lady might play in its life. So too, perhaps, does her husband,” political author, A. Scott Berg tells Vanity Fair.
