If you’ve spent a bit of time in the dating world, there’s every chance you’ve suffered through the boredom and awkwardness of a very average first date.
Afterwards, you might have had a little whinge to your girlfriends, or surreptitiously deleted them from Tinder on the taxi ride home.
That wasn’t enough for Brandon Vezmar, who was left so unimpressed by a movie outing with his date that he’s suing her.
Her crime? Texting through the date.
His demand? The $23 cost of her movie ticket to see Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2.
Brandon, 37, claims his 35-year-old date who he had met online, started texting 15 minutes into the movie at Barton Creek Square in Texas, much to his displeasure.
“It was kind of a first date from hell,” Brandon told the American-Statesman. “This is like one of my biggest pet peeves.”
Claiming she “activated her phone at least 10-20 times in 15 minutes”, Brandon asked her to stop. She didn’t.
He then asked her to leave the theatre. She did. And she never came back, taking her car which they’d both arrived at the cinema in with her.
The woman in question reveals Brandon later called her to ask for the money back, but she refused, and was shocked to hear about Brandon’s claim.
Insisting she had simple texted a friend who had just broken up with her boyfriend a couple of times, the woman now has plans to file a protective order against Brandon.
It’s a tough old dating world out there…
