Princess Diana’s six-hour tantrum on honeymoon with Charles

It was years before the public would realise just how unhappy Princess Diana and Prince Charles were in their marriage, but new reports reveal those close to the couple knew from very early on.

Royal author Penny Junor has revealed the depths of Diana’s despair, with the Princess unleashing a shocking six-hour rage while at Balmoral Estate soon after her marriage to Charles.

Detailing how Di became increasingly moody in the lead-up to the wedding, Penny reveals the couple embarked on the honeymoon from hell during a fight-filled cruise around the Mediterranean. Far from Charles' dream of idyllic days spent painting and reading, the couple rowed constantly as Diana saw this as his attempt to avoid talking with her.

And the next stage of their holiday at Balmoral Estate wasn’t much better.

According to Penny, Prince Charles “left it to others to deal with Diana”, instead disappearing off for solo walks or fishing trips.

Things got so bad, he rang his ‘right hand man’ and trusted aide Michael Colborne to spend the day with Di while he was out hunting.

It’s then Di reportedly unleashed her fury at her situation.

“For six solid hours, with no distraction beyond a plate of sandwiches at lunchtime, he sat there while Diana cried, paced around the room, kicked the furniture, ranted about everyone and everything to do with the place that she hated so much,” the Daily Mail reports.

Said to be driven mad with jealousy over Charles' relationship with Camilla Parker Bowles and feeling neglected by her new husband, Diana didn’t care who saw how unhappy she was.

For Michael, who was privy to the couple’s huge rows, he became a confidant to the Prince.

With a “mystified and despondent” Charles detailing his marriage woes as they travelled to a royal engagement together after Di's outburst, it was the beginning of the end for the couple, who would last 15 more years before their acrimonious split.

In the 20th anniversary year of Princess Diana death, there has been a resurgence in news about the late princess.

Last week, the internet had a momentary freak out on Monday because John Hopkins allegedly confessed to killing Princess Diana in 1997.

The retired MI5 agent, who at 80-years-old, had just been told he had weeks to live.

His bizarre claims were published on the online website YourNewsWire, and quickly spread. The rumour mill was in full swing.

On his death bed, the former agent claimed he had been involved in 23 assassinations for the British intelligence agency between 1973 and 1999, including that of Princess Diana.
