Teen Vogue claps back after sex article scandal
An editor of Teen Vogue in the US, has responded to the tirade of criticism they've recieved about an anal sex article which was published recently.
The backlash has been spearheaded by a Christian mother, who calls herself “The Activist Mommy” online, after she claimed it “safely sodomised” children and teens.
Over the weekend, a video emerged of the mother burning the most recent issue of the magazine and telling parents to go to their local supermarkets and petrol stations to demand the removal of the magazine from their shelves.
The mother-of-ten then goes on to say how the magazine should not be teaching people about homosexual sex, gender fluidity and masturbation.
The original article was written by sex educator Gigi Engle and it was aimed towards “teens, beginners, and all inquisitive folk”.
According to the mag, it was a guide to promote safe and consensual sex to educate teens and young people, also encouraging the use of condoms.
Well, this Teen Vogue editor has defended the article in the most brilliant way in a Twitter thread that has gone viral.
Phillip Picardi, Digital Editorial Director for the magazine, came out guns blazing after being “inundated with hate mail saying we promote sodomy”.
I monitor the webmaster email and have been inundated with hate mail saying we promote sodomy and want teens to get AIDS.

In a 19-post long Twitter thread, Picardi discussed the reasoning behind the article reflecting on his own experiences when he was young writing: “You see, my Catholic school was guilty of endangering all of us by sheer omission of FACTS.”
He also added: “EDUCATION doesn’t equal ENCOURAGEMENT.”
You see, my Catholic school was guilty of endangering all of us by sheer omission of FACTS. EDUCATION doesn't equal ENCOURAGEMENT.

Speaking directly to those who criticised the article Picardi wrote: “The backlash to this article is rooted in homophobia.”
The backlash to this article is rooted in homophobia. It's also laced in arcane delusion about what it means to be a young person today.

He ended the thread with a photo of himself and his boyfriend Darien Sutton kissing holding up his middle finger with the Pride symbol basically telling haters to stick it where the sun don't shine.

Even better, Picardi also sassily responded to The Activist Mommy’s burning Teen Vogue video in an indirect tweet writing: “I guess anal was the last straw.” Boom!
