'Hepeating' is the annoying new trend most women know about

If you’ve ever said something only to have it repeated by a man – in a slightly different way – who proceeds to take credit for the idea, then you’ve experienced this super annoying new trend.

And now it has a name – hepeating.

Most women you ask will have experienced some form of hepeating over the course of their life.

Apparently it’s a very common occurance in meetings, where women will make a point, and then a man wants to add to that point, but proceeds to repeat the exact point again.

Nicole Gugliucci shared on Twitter: “My friends coined a word: hepeated. For when a woman suggests an idea and it's ignored, but then a guy says same thing and everyone loves it.”

And many Twitter users were quick to agree, also saying that it happens a lot to people of colour as well.

If you find yourself a victim of hepeating, some suggest you have a few ways to combat it.

If you have some time on your hands you can just reiterate your point after the man has finished repeating it, and continue that if he keeps stepping on your toes.

Or if you’d rather just shut it down quick smart go with ‘That’s what I just said’.

If you don’t want a confrontation you can always try talking to the person and make them aware that you feel they are just repeating your ideas.

And that’s not on.
