Harry and Meghan have tea with the Queen as engagement whispers swirl

She’s the one woman who has the power to say no when it comes to his marriage to Meghan Markle, and it looks like Prince Harry is doing everything in his power to get the engagement ball rolling by getting an official blessing from the Queen.

Just weeks after Prince Harry and his Suits star girlfriend went public with their romance after months of secrecy, the royal has taken the next big step to prove just how serious he is about hurrying Meghan down the aisle.

The Daily Mail reports Prince Harry and Meghan were seen taking tea with the Queen last week, igniting a firestorm of speculation he’s asked 'Granny's' permission to marry the actress.

“Everything about the teatime meeting was deliberately informal,” the publication reports.

“After being driven in to the inner courtyard, the couple were said to have been whisked up to the Queen’s private sitting room on the first floor overlooking the palace gardens and Constitution Hill."

The couple are said to have arrived for tea at 5pm, spending almost an hour with the monarch.

“It is the Queen’s favourite part of the day and she loves it when her grandchildren are able to join her,” claims the report.

Asking for the Queen’s approval to marry Meghan isn’t just a sign of respect for Prince Harry, it’s actually a legal requirement.

The UK's Royal Marriages Act 1772 states that the monarch can actually veto the marriage of a family member, and although the law has been relaxed, it still applies to the first six in line to the throne.

While the birth of Prince William’s two bubs George and Charlotte have bumped him down, Harry still comes in number five and within the veto zone.

Although with Meghan and the Queen taking tea together, we're doubting her Majesty would say no to this lovestruck pair.
