Prince Harry had a crush on Meghan two years before they met

Prince Harry hit the headlines last year when it was confirmed that he was dating American actress Meghan Markle, with it recently being speculated that the pair are preparing to marry.

However, it has now been revealed that the 33-year-old royal had set his sights on the star two years earlier, after developing a huge crush on her whilst watching her TV show ‘Suits’.

According to The Sun, royal expert Katie Nicholl made the revelation in new documentary ‘When Harry Met Meghan: A Royal Romance’, explaining: “He had a crush on Rachel Zane two years before he met Meghan and the reason I know is because I was having drinks with one of his friends.

“She told me she’d been on a night out with Prince Harry. He was single at the time, so she said, ‘Harry, who’s your ideal girl?’ and he said ‘Meghan Markle from Suits.'”

It is believed that Harry asked their mutual friend Markus Anderson to orchestrate a meeting when Meghan was in London to watch a Wimbledon match in July 2016.

“He asked Markus if he could set up, not a date, but an opportunity for them to meet and that happened in one of the private rooms of Soho House," Katie continued.

“She was funny, feisty, confident and she wasn’t swayed or knocked by the fact that he was Prince Harry. She thought he was terribly cute.”

Meghan spoke out about her relationship with Harry for the first time in an interview with Vanity Fair last month.

“We’re two people who are really happy and in love. We were very quietly dating for about six months before it became news, and I was working during that whole time, and the only thing that changed was people’s perception," she shared.

The pair made their first public appearances together shortly afterwards, with Meghan joining the Prince on two royal engagements.

It was recently claimed that senior members of the Royal Family have been asked to keep 2018 weekend dates available as aides officially began the arrangements for Harry and Meghan to wed.

However, there has been no official comment from either Harry or Meghan on engagement speculation.
