Frances Abbott tells all on shock engagement
Frances Abbott has opened up about the moment her boyfriend of two weeks popped the question – and explained why she said yes.
Having been introduced by a mutual friend, Frances and and two-time Olympic rower Sam Loch instantly knew they shared a special connection.
One night, just a fortnight after they met, Frances was putting peas away in the freezer when she noticed Sam standing in the doorway with a bottle of bubbly.
“He said, ‘Why aren’t you asking me why I’m holding champagne?’" Frances told NewsCorp.
"So I said, ‘OK... why are you holding champagne?’ He said, ‘Well, I thought we could drink it after I asked you to marry me.’”

Frances, whose engagement ring is currently on order, admitted the reaction from her friends and family had been one of surprise.
“Everyone’s like, ‘Wow, this is really fast,’” she said.
“But it feels so natural to me. His energy, it’s so grounding. When I am around him, I am like, ‘This is what it’s meant to be like.’ Life is short, and love is special, and sometimes you just need to follow your instincts.”
The pair share a love of fitness, with Frances taking up bodybuilding and fitness modelling several years ago.
And she said her mother Margie in particular was supportive of the union.
“Mum was like, ‘Frances, you are quite impulsive,’” she explained.
“My family just want what’s best for me, as any family would with their daughter. They are cautious because of the time, but they know me.”
