Former escort Samantha X reveals whirlwind romance is over
After three intense and very public months of dating, escort turned media personality Samantha X, has confirmed that she’s split from her reporter boyfriend Ryan Phelan.
“Ryan and I have decided to end our relationship,” she told the Daily Mail.
“The love was very deep between us, but sometimes love isn't enough.”
There was a great deal of attention around their relationship when it was announced in November, and Samantha (real name Amanda Goff) said it was one of the main reasons she gave up she gave up her career in sex work - despite being one of the country’s highest paid escorts.
She’s now said she plans on focusing on her master’s degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy, and will not be returning to her former profession.
The couple met during Samantha’s promotional campaign for her book Back On Top, with divorced dad-of-two Ryan asking her out for lunch.
“We have pretty much spent every day together since,” he told the Sydney Morning Herald.
“I fell in love with Amanda, no one else, and that is who she is to me, Amanda, an outstanding mother and woman.”
During their time together, the couple shared a series of loved-up photos to Instagram and enjoyed a romantic trip to Italy’s Amalfi Coast.
For Samantha, who ran her own escort agency and charged $1,100 per-hour, her previous work was more about connecting with clients and listening to them than sex.
“They think they want sex, they think that’s why they’re booking you but nine times out of ten, the appointment becomes a psychology session,” Samantha X told Be.
“When women come to me and say they want to do this because they love sex, I say, ‘Forget about sex, because you’re not necessarily going to have sex a lot as an escort’.
“It’s mostly about talking, it’s mostly about connecting, it’s mostly about listening.”
