Melania and Donald Trump 'staying in separate places'

In the wake of the claims President Donald Trump had an extramarital affair with a porn star, new reports have emerged Melania Trump is staying away from the White House.

A "well-placed source" has alleged to the Daily Mail the First Lady has been spending "a number of nights" in a "posh" Washington D.C. hotel.

"Melania spends three to four days a week away from the White House and has stayed at a hotel in D.C. multiple times in January, often for days at a time," the source told the publication. "She also travels up to New York."

The insider also claimed Melania "rarely comes into his West Wing office" and "seems to be avoiding duties".

The outlet reports it is due to the "humiliating" claims that surfaced about Trump having an affair with pornstar Stormy Daniels.

However, shortly after the report Melania's spokesperson Stephanie Grisham published a statement on Twitter although did not specifically mention if it was in response to the Daily Mail article.

Trump is currently in Switzerland for the World Economic Forum and Melania was originally due to attend but instead took an unannounced trip to West Palm Beach in Florida.

The president was first linked to Stormy earlier this month, when a Wall Street Journal article claimed his lawyer paid her $160,000 the month before his 2016 election to keep quiet over an alleged one-night encounter back in 2006.

While the White House and the actress denied allegations of a sexual encounter, In Touch magazine has now made public an 2011 interview in which Stormy, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, opens up about the tryst.

“[The sex] was textbook generic,” the publication reports Stormy saying of the affair, which took place less than four months after Trump’s wife Melania gave birth to their son Barron in 2006.

“I actually don’t even know why I did it, but I do remember while we were having sex, I was like, ‘Please, don’t try to pay me.’”

In addition, after 13 years of marriage, the couple let their wedding anniversary slip quietly by last week.

It was on January 22, and unlike the Obamas before them, there was no gushing Twitter exchange, or any public acknowledgement of the day at all.

According to Daily Mail, there wasn’t even any time put aside in the President’s schedule to celebrate the occasion.

The president’s lawyer has denied all allegations of an affair.
