Here's what your weird sex dreams really mean

Whether you can remember them when you wake up or not, everyone constantly has dreams, and some of them are steamier than others.

But if you’ve found yourself dreaming about your ex, or even your boss, don’t freak out, because there is probably a reason for it that doesn’t mean what you think.

Sex with a celebrity or dreaming of infidelity are two of the most common themes in sex dreams, according to Dr Jennifer Parker, an associate research fellow at the University of West England.

“Dreams of having sex with a ‘taboo’ person (like a person’s best friend) may leave women feeling guilty and questioning if they may fancy this person in waking life,” She told the Daily Star.

“But in fact, if you’re having a lot of sex dreams it can simply mean you’re feeling extra aroused or that your mind and body are hoping to snap you out of a dry spell.”

As with many dreams, sex dreams can also hold hidden messages, which in some cases might not even be about sex.

For example, dreaming about your boss might just mean that you want to progress in your job or even make a career change.

Equally if you have a dream where you are cheating, it doesn’t mean you will have an affair, but rather that you are feeling unfulfilled in your current relationship.

On the flip side if you dream of being cheated on it may mean you are actually feeling insecure or jealous.

Finally, if you are dreaming about your ex, it doesn’t mean you want to get back together with that person.

It may be that you still have some things to work through yourself - like unresolved feelings about the break-up – or fears that your new relationship will also go downhill.
