Singles reveal their biggest online dating disasters

Valentine’s Day may be every smitten couple’s favourite Hallmark occasion, but not everyone's February 14 is full of gooey quotes and love hearts.

In fact, many people have revealed that their day has turned into a downright nightmare with online dates from hell.

Taking to Reddit, singles revealed the most bizarre dates they’ve ever been on, with some even revealing it’s put them off online dating forever.

One guy said his worst date happened a few years ago when he met a girl for the first time at a restaurant, before she whipped out her phone and started reading out a list of questions.

“Stuff mostly about my job and what I'd be doing over the next ten years. Every answer was responded with a negative 'hmmm' and a new question,” he said.

“If it were a job interview it would be one of the worst I've ever had. As a date, it was horrifying.”

Another woman said she had been on dates with four guys she met online who all decided to tell her they were already madly in love with her.

Needless to say, she has now sworn off online dating forever, but she still has some bad dating stories.

“The worst was the guy who told me face to face that he just got out of jail about two weeks earlier,” she said.

“So, glad they were all lunch dates, at least the sun was out when I was told I was dating/meeting a convicted felon.”

Perhaps one of the funniest stories on the thread is from a guy who claimed he thought he had met the one online.

“Talking to this beautiful girl, we just connected then we made a plan to meet at a local pub. Show up and turns out it was my younger sister,” he said.

Other dates were just purely disrespectful, with one woman saying she made plans to meet a guy at the cinema, only for him to turn up drunk and proceeded to make fun of the film throughout the entire thing.

Others had bizarre dates, where they didn’t exactly get what they expected.

“Met who I thought was a girl online, met IRL, wasn't a girl,” one person said.

“Met a guy online talked to him for a while, we lived in same town he invited me out to a movie, met him 100lbs heavier than his picture, hideous and batshit insane,” another girl said.

“Half way through the movie I texted my Mom to call me and need something vital, she needed Nyquil for a cold she made up and I bounced. HORRIBLE, seriously, I was warped. I don't get pretending to be different, it’s not going to gain you any friends or a girlfriend.”
