The biggest online dating profile turn off

Online dating profiles aren’t exactly the easiest things to put together.

Not only do you have to make sure you summarise what you’re looking for in the opposite sex to perfection but you also have to pick a killer profile picture to go with it.

And now, it’s been revealed just how important that one snap is, because according to a study, there’s one thing that’s a major turn off in dating profiles.

Daily Burn, a live-streaming workout company, surveyed 1,094 of their members to reveal what makes them swipe left online.

Interestingly, 58 per cent of people said they can’t stand it when they see gym selfies as a person’s profile picture.

When it came to women, 61 per cent said selfies in the gym are a turn off and 47 per cent of men agree.

The survey comes just days after people took to Reddit to reveal the worst dates they’ve ever gone on after meeting a match online.

One guy said his worst date happened a few years ago when he met a girl for the first time at a restaurant, before she whipped out her phone and started reading out a list of questions.

“Stuff mostly about my job and what I'd be doing over the next ten years. Every answer was responded with a negative 'hmmm' and a new question,” he said.

“If it were a job interview it would be one of the worst I've ever had. As a date, it was horrifying.”

Another woman said she had been on dates with four guys she met online who all decided to tell her they were already madly in love with her.

Needless to say, she has now sworn off online dating forever, but she still has some bad dating stories.

“The worst was the guy who told me face to face that he just got out of jail about two weeks earlier,” she said.

“So, glad they were all lunch dates, at least the sun was out when I was told I was dating/meeting a convicted felon.”

Perhaps one of the funniest stories on the thread is from a guy who claimed he thought he had met the one online.

“Talking to this beautiful girl, we just connected then we made a plan to meet at a local pub. Show up and turns out it was my younger sister,” he said.
